Actress Shaunette Renée Wilson Brings More Guyanese Girl Magic to Black Panther Movie!

On the eve of the release of Marvel’s Studios Black Panther, Guyanese across the globe are beaming with pride as actress Letitia Wright gets ready to light up the big screen in her starring role as Shuri. Well little did we know that there’s another Guyanese girl, with a not so prominent role in the movie, but who also deserves to be celebrated.

Shaunette sizzles in red on the Black Panther movie premiere purple carpet.

Meet actress Shaunette Renée Wilson who plays a member of Dora Milaje, a Wakanda’s elite special forces unit, in the much anticipated Black Panther movie.   Dora Milajes are female warriors who not only functioned as Wakandan Black Ops and the Black Panther’s personal bodyguard, but also served as wives-in-training for the king.

Shaunette on Fox’s drama, The Resident

Shaunette is best known for her roles on Showtime’s Billions opposite Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti (2016), and currently starring opposite Manish Dayal, Matt Czuchry and Bruce Greenwood in  The Resident, Fox’s  (2018)medical drama pilot produced by Antoine Fuqua.

Born in Guyana but raised in New York from the age of two, Shaunette attended the Yale School of Drama. Her Yale School of Drama credits include: Cardboard Piano, Paradise Lost, The Seagull, and The Children. Other credits: The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Yale Repertory Theatre-Connecticut Critics Circle Awards Nomination), Midsummer, love holds a lamp in this little room, Orlando, Middletown, We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as Southwest Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 (Yale Summer Cabaret).  Shaunette received her BA in Drama and Theatre from Queens College.

In 2015 Shaunette won the Grace LeVine Theater Award, named for a niece of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco and predicted that the award will allow her  to pursue her artistic dreams and to travel and connect with fellow artists and supporters of theatre.  Well Shaunette definitely talked this role into existence because like Letitia, she is working alongside many of hollywood’s elite actresses namely Angela Bassett and Lupita Nyongo.  Shaunette is represented by UTA and Authentic Talent & Literary Management.

Dear Shaunette,

I hope that your dreams ALL come to fruition but in my opinion they have. I do not watch much TV because it bores me when I see bad acting. Your acting in The Resident and those of your fellow actors is something to give credit to. Thank you for your accomplishments as they are most respected and appreciated. You, will go far, my dear.

AWSOME!! THANKS TO GUYANESE GIRLS ROCK I NOW KNOW THIS ABOUT MISS SHAUNETTE

Congrats to both . I like This
