She Rocks! Dr. Tamika Singh Takes On Fitness Challenge To Help The Less Fortunate

Dr. Tamika (Tami) Singh is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician, a Fitness Expert and proud owner of Aspire Health; a Florida-based Direct Primary Care (DPC) Practice. Dr. Singh has a strong focus in helping patients with balancing the body, mind and soul through the approach of integrated and functional medicine, holistic practices and preventative/wellness care.

Dr. Singh was born in Brooklyn, NY to Guyanese parents and raised in Miami, Florida.  Her father Tage (Paul) Singh was born in Enterprise, Guyana but raised in Stanley Town, Guyana. Her mother,  Suroj (Suri) Manbahal was born and raised in Canal #1, Guyana. Tami’s parents migrated to the United States in the early 70s where they met and got married in 1976.

Health and fitness became Dr. Singh’s passion during her teenage years.  At the age of 17, she began working out and it has been a way of life ever since. Within that time she started volunteering at various hospitals and community events. This intrigued her to pursue a career in the medical field. Dr. Singh graduated from the University of Miami with her undergrad degree in Biology, then continued her schooling to achieve a Medical Degree at Ross University, in Dominica WI. She attended residency training in Family Medicine at The University of South Florida in Clearwater, FL. Along the path of health and fitness Dr. Singh became a yoga instructor and reiki healer.

Caring for patients the way I want myself and family to be cared for.”
-Tami Singh, M.D.

Dr. Singh believes in caring for her patients the way that she wants herself and family to be cared for.  “After training, I joined a multi-specialty practice in 2010, Clark and Daughtrey, a physician owned group. My patient panel grew to over 4,000 patients in 7 years. My staff and I always strived for a patient’s experience in the office to be a pleasant one. However, the physician owned practice soon merged with a large hospital and the family feel of the office was lost,” she shared.

After the large hospital took over, Dr. Singh felt like all of the personal touches to her practice disappeared and her patients simply felt like a number. This convinced her to seek alternative options to better care for her patients.

“The obstacles my patients encountered, along with my drive of why I became a physician motivated me to open Aspire Health. The membership model at Aspire Health allows me to devote quality time to my patients and their families, getting to know them on a more in-depth level. The close relationship I develop and the time I spend with patients are personally important to me. This is the foundation of exceptional health care.”

Her passion for fitness has led Dr. Singh to compete for the Ms. Health and Fitness 2019 Title in the world largest online fitness competition, where fans VOTE to select the winner.  Voting began earlier today and the winner will be featured in Muscle & Fitness Her Magazine plus receive $20,000 winning prize.  Should she win the competition, Dr. Singh plans to donate to the Miami Rescue Mission, where she volunteers monthly providing medical care to the homeless. She would also provide a scholarship program for uninsured patients at Aspire Health, allowing them access to free medication and lab work.
