Aliyah Baijnauth Is Set to Compete For the Miss New York Teen USA 2021 Title

Aliyah Baijnauth is a sophomore at Lindenhurst High School in Suffolk County Long Island and in a few days, she will compete in the Miss New York Teen USA 2021 pageant scheduled for August 19th and 20th.  A sports enthusiast,  the talented 15-year-old is a member of her High School’s basketball, volleyball, and track teams. Aliyah is also a straight-A student and was recently invited to join the National Society of High School Scholars.  Her mother, Nicole Baijnauth, is a native of Georgetown Guyana.  Aliyah is the oldest of three girls and a proud big sister.

Aliyah is passionate about Math and Science and has her goals set on becoming an anesthesiologist. Her dream is to attend Harvard University and Harvard Medical School. When she’s not busy with school and sports Aliyah spends her time volunteering in the community and gathering shoes, clothes, toys, and food to send for children who are in need in Guyana and Trinidad.  She is also starting her own nonprofit organization “Gifts for the West Indies” (she is still working on the name).

Aliyah plans to use her platform to help empower and inspire other girls to stay true to who they are.  She is also passionate about social justice and equality and wants to advocate and raise awareness for discriminatory practices of bias that are based on skin color.   One thing that Aliyah would like the world to know about her is that whenever she sees injustice she will raise her voice.  She also wants to help to eliminate labels and negative stereotypes, especially those that are harmful to girls.
