This past weekend pageant supporter across Guyana witnessed a number of queens being crowned, but one of the most coveted title is “Miss World Guyana.”
According to the MWG organization recent press release, Joylyn Anita Conway is Miss World Guyana 2019 after being selected by a panel of 9 judges during the selected process. She was crowned by Miss World Guyana 2018, Ambika Ramraj at a small but elegant event held at the Pegasus International Hotel today, June 23rd, 2019. Joylyn will represent Guyana at the Miss World competition in Thailand later this year.
Conway is a proud Berbician and a Natural Science enthusiast holding a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a minor in Biology from the University of Guyana. She’s currently a Lecturer and Lab Instructor, attached to the Univesity of Guyana and the New Amsterdam Technical Institute. Joylyn is a strong believer in her faith as a communicant Methodist. Her mantra, “aspire to inspire before you expire” encompasses much of her hobbies – teaching, dancing, volunteering, coaching young women and children on personal development and also enjoy traveling, trying new foods and putting smiles on frowned faces.

During Rotaract’s Handling over and Induction Ceremony yesterday, June 22nd, 2019, Joylyn was elected as Secretary for Rotaract year 2019-2010 and 2020-2021 President-Elect. She lives by the quote “it costs nothing to light another candle” hence, her mission is to inspire girls in STEM to embrace their dreams with confidence under her Beauty with a purpose project “ Stem Girl Glo”.
“I truly look forward for all this journey has in stored for me – both the moments that maybe smooth and others not quite, because I know that at the end of it all, its purpose is to mold me into becoming a better version of myself – a well rounded young woman, while lighting other candles via the work of my BWAP “STEM Girl Glow.” Ms Conway shared on her facebook page.
