Guyanese Nickie Kane in Running for New York City Mayor

Born in Mahaica, on the East Coast in Guyana, Nickie Kane moved to Richmond Hill, Queens at the age of five.  A long-time advocate for domestic violence survivors, affordable housing, police reform, and social justice, Nickie is now ready to take on City Hall.  After being told “to be honest, your vote probably won’t be counted” she decided enough is enough and launched her campaign to run as an Independent Write-In candidate for New York City Mayor.

Nickie began her career in customer service for fashion retailer Gap. After gaining cash handling experience she made her way to the banking industry where she managed accounts with large portfolios. Her continual growth and people skills led her to be referred to the advertising industry where she worked for Publicis Groupe in an accounting position. After the economic downturn, she seized the opportunity to return to school and complete her bachelor’s degree and gained on-campus human resources experience. After a contract position with Disney ABC Group, she moved to Florida where she continued to gain customer relations skills. While in Florida, Nikki also gained valuable experience in small business lending and high commission sales. However, after two years she became homesick and returned to New York and has worked in human resources for the medical staffing industry.

During the pandemic quarantine, Nickie immersed herself in her web design and software development hobby. Her love of learning made her decide to return to school to explore the field of law. When she is not doing school work she is working on her latest web design project or trying a new recipe.

“I will bring honesty, integrity, and compassion to city hall” Nikki shared.

Per Nickie,  because she is only loyal to voters she has decided to run as an independent write-in candidate. She added that her campaign is grassroots and not funded by corporations, Wall Street, Hedge Funds, or billionaires.  Nickie is asking for the community’s vote and she promises to make NYC safe, affordable, equitable, and a great place to live.
