19 Apr: Kelly Hyles Received First Guyanese Girls Rock Scholarship Award

On April 10th, the first Guyanese Girls Rock Scholarship award was presented to Kelly Hyles at the “Bridging the Gap” Millennial Conference in Brooklyn, New York. Kelly, a high school senior, was accepted to the top 8 Ivy League schools in the United States and was honored for academic excellence. 07 Sep: GGR Booth at Guyana Folk Festival 2015

Nothing says Summer in New York like an outdoor festival and yesterday the Cultural Association of New York Inc. held its annual Folk Festival & Family Fun Day at the Old Boys High School Grounds, Brooklyn, New York. Guyanese Girls Rock was happy to be a part of the festivities that included singing, dancing and musical performances.  Proceeds from the sale of merchandise  from the GGR booth will go toward the Guyanese Girls Rock Technology Scholarship Fund.

11 Mar: International Women’s Day Red Revolution Gala 2015 in Guyana….

The Guyana National Cultural Center was ablaze  with talent on Monday evening for the “Let the Women Speak” Red Revolution Gala. Women from all over the country showed up decked out in a sea of red as a sign of solidarity and strength for the fight against domestic violence. 01 Sep: Guyanese Girls Rock at Guyana Fun Day in Brooklyn…

Despite the spontaneous downpour or rain, the show went as usual. The annual Family Fun Day, sponsored by the Guyana Cultural Association, was held on Sunday, August 31 at Old Boys High School Grounds, in Brooklyn, NY.  The festivities included an exciting program featuring folklore games and activities, plus a special performance from singer, Lisa Punch.  Here are a few pics from the GGR booth.

Guyanese Girls Rock founder, Cloyette Harris-Stoute, was one of 10 women who were recently honored at the 2014 Guyana Cultural Association Folk Festival Award Ceremony in Brooklyn, New York.   Cloyette, who was recognized for her outstanding contributions to contemporary media, was presented with her Award by GCA committee member, Allison Skeete.
