Celebrating Our Nurses: Meet, Ameela Singh, Dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner

Ameela Singh was originally born in Georgetown, Guyana, South America. Her family moved to the United States at the age of 3 for better opportunities; Ameela understood this dream! Her parents always pushed her and her goal was always to make them proud. Ameela grew up as a loving child always the first to respond to an ache or a scrape, no matter what. As a child, everyone knew that Ameela would be a nurturer; therefore, a career in Healthcare was fitting.

Ameela responded to her nature and later received her Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of MD-College Park. Go Terps! She proceeded to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Marymount University in Arlington, VA where she was on the Dean’s List. Ameela utilized these degrees while working at The George Washington University Hospital. Her fields of practice included Neonatal Intensive Care and Medical-Surgical; with specialties in Acute Stroke, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Rehab, and Acute Pulmonary Disease. She spent 5 years providing quality, evidence based, and culturally diverse care to her patients daily. Ameela also utilized her leadership skills as a charge nurse for a 30-40 bed unit, managing 10-16 nurses and 50 patients daily.

While working full-time Ms. Singh obtained her Master’s of Science in Nursing at The George Washington University in Washington, DC; also on the Dean’s List. She began her post-graduate career in a step-down acute care clinic and has transitioned to Effective Integrative Healthcare to pursue a passion and to expand her clinical knowledge. Aside from medicine, Ameela enjoys singing, dancing, and cooking.

Ameela believes that health is multi-faceted, we don’t treat a problem we treat a person in order to get them back to their best. She believes health has physical, mental, and emotional components. She is very excited to be part of the Effective Integrative team and can’t wait to work with you!
