Guyana’s singing sensation Shelon Unecia Garraway aka “Shelly G” is a feisty young songwriter and versatile stage performer. She was born on 22nd October, 1985, the third of four children, and a graduate of Cotton Field Secondary School in Essequibo. Shelly G’s talents came to light on a popular TV show produced for Mr. Dynamix (Ian Johnson) in 2004, a program geared to discover new talent. This led to her becoming the #1 artiste with Dynamix Recording Studio.
Shelly G made her music debut in 2005 at the National Park, on the National Carib Soca Monarch, with a tantalizing rendition of “ Touch Me”. This performance landed her in the number two (2) spot over some of the more seasoned performers and this marked the beginning of her colorful career on stage.Shelly G is well traveled both in and out of Guyana and has performed with several international artists such as Gregory Isaacs, Luciano, Maxi Priest, Allison Hinds, Jah Cure, Sherwin Wynchester, just to name a few.In 2006 Shelly G released her first album, titled “Shelly G Online,” which compromises of several of her hit singles, “ Touch Me “, “Come Over”, “ Jook – Jook” featuring Xcelent out of Jamaica, “ Celebration Time” featuring Fire Clann, “ Put It On Me”, “ Ooh Boy “ featuring Mahor Joe B (fyanese), “ Party “ featuring JB, “ High “, and “ What You Mean To Me “.In 2007 Shelly recorded her second album produced by Vizion Sounds Records. The album which started in Jamaica and was completed in Guyana at the Vizion Sounds Recording Studio, consist of a mixture of Soca and Dancehall music, with the single “Freaky Freaky “. In 2009 Shelly G became the Guyana Carib Soca Monarch, which lead to 11 nominations for the Guyana Music Awards.
Shelly G is now Managed by Vizion Sounds Records and release her new single “Officer “under Vizion Sounds Records label. This single is now being played on You Tube, iTunes and all the major social network platforms. Miss Shelon Unecia Garraway aka “Shelly G” is determined to forge a name for herself in the international music arena. Her main goal is to take Guyanese music to the next level and believes that women are the driving force of the world and that she will prove indubitably that women can succeed at anything.
