Dr. Alisha

Dr. Alisha Griffith, affectionately referred to as “Dr. Alisha”, is a compassionate professionally trained educator, speech language pathologist, and audiologist.  Over a span of nearly two decades, she has assisted countless people from all walks of life to overcome various challenges, empowering them to live their lives to the fullest.

Dr. Alisha was born in Stillwater Oklahoma after both of her parent left Guyana on scholarship awards to study abroad.  Her mother, Ismay Griffith and father, Charles Griffith; returned to Guyana with Masters degrees in Sociology and Agricultural Engineering, respectively to fulfill their service obligations to Guyana, which were the terms of the scholarships.   The family lived North Ruimveldt, Georgetown where Dr. Alisha grew up from the age of 2 until she was 10 years old, when she returned to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Alisha holds a Clinical Doctorate Degree in Audiology (Au.D) from Pennsylvania College of Optometry and a Certification in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). She has worked in schools, homes, offices, and in her own practice connecting those with speech and hearing difficulties. Through her work Dr. Alisha has helped many BELIEVE in themselves and SHIFT their self-talk. Although her clients are dealing with disabilities, their confidence levels are no different from others.

In 2015, Dr. Alisha launched her coaching and speaking program out of her passion and willingness to serve others. She is known as the catalyst for change, the igniter of positive energy.  Her goal is to shift mindsets by first addressing ones inner dialogues from negative to positive. This shift often results in appreciation and gratitude from within. Dr. Alisha believes that remaining focused and weathering through life’s storms with a positive mindset are the KEYS to success.

Dr. Alisha’s journey has been the muse of her passion. A high-achiever from the onset her dreams of becoming a medical doctor shifted somewhere between high school and college. Even with the shift Dr. Alisha’s sights were always set high. While earning her Doctorate degree, she was also going through a divorce with a two month old baby who was later diagnosed with autism spectrum.   Shifting from wife to single motherhood was not easy. Dr. Alisha learned through trial and lessons the importance of support from others and that determination, consistency, and commitment will help you through life’s various obstacles. At no point did she give up on her goal and believes that “it’s not always what you “think” you should be, but more where you “feel” you should be.”

As a woman of many hats, Dr. Alisha personality remains constant: her smile, high energy, adaptability, ability to connect, and positive energy. Her most important role is being the proud mother of Zachary, her bright and extra-ordinary son who is on the Autism Spectrum. Dr. Alisha shared,

“Being Zachary’s mom has been one of my biggest lessons of patience, expressing gratitude and appreciation even for the small things. He’s taught me how to identify strengths, many of which I see in him and myself.”

An advocate for autism, Dr. Alisha was inspired to create  SoSMART kids, Inc., a program that helps children on the autism spectrum learn social skills, martial arts, and fitness. Additionally, in 2014 she co-founded SMART FIT FAM Inc., a non-profit organization that supports families with children on the spectrum, and provide services and workshops that teaches the importance of wellness, fitness, and proper nutrition.
