A few hours ago the Miss World Guyana Committee and members of Guyanese community bid farewell to the reigning Miss World Guyana 2017, Vena Mookram. The 19-year-old Queen, who has an infectious smile, departed JFK Airport to vie for the Miss World title in China. The pageant will be held in December.
Vena, a Bishop High School graduate is pursuing a degree Economics and has ambitions to become an Economist in Guyana’s Oil and Gas industry. Her “Beauty with a Purpose” platform focuses on Diabetes Prevention; a cause that she cares deeply about as the disease has affected several members of her family.
“There’s always some reason to smile. You just need to remember the positives and not let the negatives keep you down.’
Also among the well wishers was Dr. Ivelaw Griffith, Chancellor of the University of Guyana, Vena mother, Betty Mookram and other family members.
The Miss World Guyana organization has established a GoFundMe Account to help defray some of the cost of items needed to compete in the pageant. You can support Vena by making a donation HERE: www.gofun
We’re wishing Vena best of luck on her journey!
