She Rocks! Meet Supriya Singh-Bodden – Recipient of the Cacique’s Crown of Honour

Supriya Singh-Bodden, C.C.H., is a native of Guyana and the Founder/Trustee of the Guyana Foundation. The Guyana Foundation was created by a group of highly dedicated men and women who see an urgent need to contribute meaningfully to the rebuilding of Guyana. Driven by the conviction that great change can be made by people who are encouraged and supported, the Foundation empowers local and international volunteers to transform the lives of individuals, families, and entire communities in need.

Mrs. Singh-Bodden has a Bachelor of Arts from York University, Canada and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of London, UK. Mrs. Singh-Bodden is a Director of Demerara Design Ltd. and is a Major Donor of the Rotary Foundation. She speaks English and Italian, and is married to Mr Robert Bodden, Caymanian, Entrepreneur and Past District Governor of Rotary.

Mrs. Singh-Bodden was recently awarded one of Guyana’s highest national honors – the Cacique Crown of Honor – for service of an exceptionally high quality in the field of youth and women’s empowerment, community renewal projects, raising awareness, nationally and internationally, of the urgent need to address mental health issues and in the field of politics. The Investiture Ceremony was held on October 6, 2015 at the the National Cultural Centre in Guyana.

The Cacique’s Crown of Honour (C.C.H.) is the second highest award in the Order of Service of Guyana. It is limited to fifty citizens of Guyana. It may be awarded to any citizen of Guyana who has “rendered service of an exceptionally high quality beyond the normal call of duty in the public service, social and voluntary services, industry or trade unions, or in any other area of public service, or achieved excellence of national or international standing and recognition in the arts, professions, sciences or sport or in any other area of activity.”
